Moonlight Works designed this beautiful lightweight Sterling Silver (92.5%) Double Curve Half Moon Pendant in collaboration with an Indigenous silversmith in Peru.
Grandmother Moon is a prominent symbol across First Nations teachings. The Mi'kmaq divided their year into 'moons' which corresponds with the modern English months. The names they gave to their moons made sense because it related to characteristics of the Mi'kmaq way of life at that particular time.
The Double Curve motif is a prominent pattern among the Wabanaki (People of the Dawn) people. The symmetry of the double curve, reminds us to keep balance in our lives. Clusters of curves together or side by side can symbolize community, alliance and the special union of marriage and family.
